Sri Chinmoy sees music as the universal language of the heart, dissolving barriers of race, language and culture. Sri Chinmoy is a prolific composer with thousands of songs to his credit in his native Bengali and in English. He plays many instruments from all over the world including a variety of flutes, the Indian esraj, cello, harmonium, piano and pipe organ. Sri Chinmoy feels that soulful music can draw us beyond the limitations of the mind into the calm beauty of our own inner being. He composes while in a meditative consciousness, and his music is imbued with a profound meditative spirit. Even at its most powerful, it contains an underlying stillness that reflects its source.
